Sustainability

Sustainability is embedded in our design, procurement and construction proposals.

The new buildings will be models of energy efficiency and include many sustainable design features including solar shading, the maximising of natural daylight and ventilation and the use of a concrete frame structure for thermal mass.

The building will include some experimental installations such as wind and solar energy, this will allow the building to be a learning experience in it's own right and provide students with the opportunity to investigate low and zero carbon technologies first hand. An innovative approach is being adopted in the use of a Combined Heat and Power (CHP) system fuelled by pure plant oil to provide heat and power for the new schools. This will achieve the carbon ‘in use' emission target of 27Kg/m2/yr.
